Free VITA tax
preparation
A special kick-off event took place at 100 Oaks Mall on
Saturday, January 28, with food, games for kids, and
IRS-trained tax help to mark the opening of 12 free tax
assistance sites around the city.
Every year, thousands of hard-working Nashville area
families lose out when they fail to claim the Earned
Income Tax Credit (EITC) and don’t get the refunds they
are eligible to receive.
Last year, more than 4,600 individuals were helped at
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites in the
area. Nashville families claiming the EITC received an
average refund of $1,500.
The Nashville Wealth Building Alliance (NWBA) is a
coalition of government, business and non-profit
organizations with over 100 members committed to helping
Nashville families receive the federal income tax return
they have earned. Call 2-1-1 for hours and locations
throughout the tax season.
