Residents can call 2-1-1 to get social services
United Way of West Tennessee celebrated
the birth of its 2-1-1 call system today in Jackson.
United Way President Barry Matthews
called the event “a special day” because area residents
who need help can now call 2-1-1 to speak to a United
Way representative for information about social
services.
The 2-1-1 phone service offers
information on a broad range of services including rent
assistance, food banks, affordable housing, health
resources, child care, after-school programs, elderly
care, financial literacy and job-training programs,
according to United Way’s Web site.
The 2-1-1 hotline is not limited to
Jackson-Madison County. Residents of Carroll, Crockett,
Dyer, Gibson, Haywood, Henderson, Hardeman, McNairy, and
Weakley counties are also encouraged to take advantage
of this assistance program.
